The whirlwind

Greetings all from southeast Arkansas!

As I sit down to write this out, I think back to everything that has happened in the past week!
Saturday
A week ago today, Betsy and I pulled up with the Focus and the UHAUL truck to an eager group of students and staff members ready to help us unload our stuff. After a quick unload of our stuff and a first glance of our new dwelling, we headed off to lunch and a little driving tour of the new town that would now be considered home. The rest of the day consisted of upacking the essentials first so we could find some sort of normalacy while we continued the unpacking process over the next week.
Sunday
We started our search for a new church at Second Baptist Church. While this was a good church, I believe Betsy and I have some more looking to do before we call a church home. The thing that I had to keep reminding myself, while there, and while Betsy and I discussed our thoughts later that afternoon, was that no church is going to be like FCC, so I shouldn't compare how things were done at FCC to how they were done at that particular church.
Monday through Friday
During the regular work week, we started the HUGE process of going through all that consists of our job in training. This brought both a feeling of excitement and an overwheling sense of inadequacy. But through the several lunch meetings, obseravations of other houseparents, and strength and encouragement from God, I know that this is not only a job that I can do, but it is something that God has called both Betsy and I to do.

Both Betsy and I have one more week of observations/practice before we become OFFICIAL, and start our first week as Family Teachers. I am exicited and look forward to sharing all of the crazy experiences of what this job will intail.
